The EOF is focused on improving maternal and child health outcomes among underserved populations.
Maternal and Child Health (emphasis on Vesico-Vaginal Fistula)
There is the need to improve maternal and child outcomes in Nigeria because it has the fourth highest maternal mortality worldwide. Nigeria accounts for 40% of the worldwide cases of Vesico-Vaginal Fistula (VVF), a debilitating but curable health condition in women. VVF is a disability experienced by women after childbirth characterized by an abnormal hole between the vagina and bladder, resulting in urinary incontinence (UI), a major symptom of VVF.
The EOF will partner with organizations and provide financial support to fund VVF surgical interventions for women suffering from VVF. Also, the foundation will advocate for, cooperate with, and provide financial resources to improve maternal and child health for women and children in general.
